A Day At The Farm

The same week that I went on the zoo field trip, I was able to go on yet another field trip. This one was to MAC Farms with Harley. It’s out in our neck of the woods, but it’s run by U of A and they do a great job of teaching kids about the workings of a real farm.

They got to learn about what it takes to plant and grow a seed.

They made bracelets that taught them all the parts it takes to grow a seed (soil, water, air, love…) Harley even got to be the hand model for that. :)

Finally, we got to ride a tractor out into the fields to harvest radishes.

Being with my Harley girl is ALWAYS a blast! I’m so glad I got to go with her.

Zoo Field Trip #4

Today I did my 4th and final Zoo field trip. This is a 1st grade field trip, and Tater is our last 1st grader… Weird, right?!?! Tater has been sick for the last 4 days, and had she not had her field trip, I would’ve kept her home for one more day. But, she was so excited about this field trip. So, I met her at the zoo and went along with her to make sure she was ok. We had a good time together…

She also enjoyed being with her friends…

After the field trip, I took her home with me, and she CRASHED on the way home. She didn’t even wake up when I stopped for Wendy’s Frostys. So I took them home and she had them when she woke up. Thanks for letting me tag along with you Tater Bug. It was a GREAT field trip!

SERIOUSLY Unwanted Guest!

Last week, while Eric worked from home, he went outside to check on the lawn and sprinklers. He left the front door open. As he headed back inside, a foot long lizard raced into the house! This was on Thursday. We chased that thing around the house for 3 days. Finally, Shelby went to take out the garbage on Saturday, when all of the sudden we heard her scream, “LIZARD!!!” There it was! FINALLY!!! We were able to chase it into a Tupperware, checked it out, and set it free in the back yard. Here he is…

We sure hope to NEVER see him again!

Cadillac or BMW?

We recently bought a new lawn mower. Why is this blog worthy, you ask? Because it’s the lawn mower of Eric and Chandler’s dreams! I’m just happy that Chandler’s thrilled about mowing the lawn now.

The only debate about it?… Whether to call it the Cadillac or the BMW of lawn mowers. GEEKS!!!

Piano recitals

Chandler and Shelby have been taking piano lessons for about 3 years now, and are learning so much, so fast. Harley just started lesson last July, and is having a great time. They had a recital April 9th. They practiced for a long time, and when the night came—they were READY!!! They all looked and sounded FABULOUS!

Here they are before the recital…

We’re SO proud of them all!!!

Tater’s Egg Drop

Every year, the 1st graders do an “Egg Drop” at the school the day after Easter. It’s actually a very cool physics lesson for the little ones. This year was our family’s final Egg Drop… Kind of weird!

The kids are supposed to design and decorate a container of some kind—however they want to. Then, they put a raw egg in a Ziploc bag and place it in the container. Finally, the school principal goes to the roof of the school and throws the containers off the edge. Once they’ve all been thrown, the kids get to open them up and see whether their eggs survived.

Tatum took a Ziploc container, decorated it, and filled it with cotton balls and the egg. She could hardly bare to watch her container be thrown…

Here’s our principal throwing egg containers…

Unfortunately, her little egg didn’t survive. :(

She sure had fun with the project, even if it was “yucky” to clean up. :)

Easter 2012

We had a busy, but fun Easter this year. We got together with the Jameson fam on Friday before Easter because the Utah Jamesons were in town for a little while. But, before everyone arrived, we decorated our Easter eggs…

Saturday morning they were up nice and early to see what the Easter bunny may have brought them.

Then, we headed off to Harley’s soccer game. After that, we went out to Grandma and Grandpa Stewart’s house for some fun with the Stewart side of the fam. The girls hunted for eggs or helped the little ones hunt for eggs…

But the boys… they were too cool for an egg hunt. They spent their time flexing their muscles and looking awesome…

On Sunday, we had a beautiful sacrament meeting with lots of music. The bishopric also spoke. Eric did a fabulous job, as always! After sacrament meeting we came home and spent some time going over some scriptures and discussing the Savior, the atonement, and the events surrounding His death and resurrection. We spent the rest of the day together as a family… relaxing. It was the perfect Easter Sunday!
