Merry Christmas… early!

We decided that we wanted to give the kids a trip this year instead of lots of useless, expensive presents that will be broken by Christmas night. However, we didn’t want to have to fight the Christmas time crowds and lines, so we gave them their trip last week. (We have a two and a half week break in October, which is nice because the rest of the world is still in school.) So, last week, we gave them each a paper at dinner on Tuesday night that said…

“This is a Christmas present, though it’s not yet Halloween. This year we want to take you someplace you have NEVER seen.

So we put our brains together and decided what to do, and came up with a GREAT idea that we think you’ll like, too.

We’re taking you all to LEGOLAND in beautiful California! However, there is just one way we feel we need to warn ya’.

If we go around Christmas time, it wouldn’t be much fun. So, we’re giving you this Christmas present early, everyone.

There’ll be lots of great things to see and lots of fun for all. That’s why we’re going now, because it’s better in the fall.

So, pack up all your traveling things, and get yourselves to bed. We leave first thing tomorrow after you’re up, and dressed, and fed.

After reading it, Chandler and Shelby burst into tears. They were SO excited, they could hardly breathe. They all jumped up from their chairs and ran over to Eric & I to say “Thank you” and give hugs. It was pretty cute.

So, the next day we got up and headed for Cali. We spent one day at the beach, one at Legoland, and one at Sea Life, the Aquarium next to Legoland. Then, we headed home. Everyone had a great time! We were a little nervous because Chandler had been sick with the double whammy of influenza A & Strep, and we were worried that he wouldn’t really feel up to the trip. But, as soon as he found out, he perked right up, and we were off to Cali.
