I never knew…

harry-potter2Anyone who knows me, knows that I am NOT a reader. I think I have adult ADD or something, but I can hardly sit still long enough to get through a children’s book, let alone a novel. Not to mention that I have yet to find a boo that doesn’t put me to sleep within the first 5 pages. zzzzzzzzzzz… :)

Well, Chandler challenged me to read the Harry Potter series, because he’s really into it right now, and wanted to have someone to talk to about it. So, I am… BUT…I’m cheating! I’ve been getting the audio books from the library (yes, mom & dad, I actually stepped foot into the library), and I am LOVING it! I FINALLY see what people mean about how much better the books are, than the movies. There is so much more information, and your imagination can just run wild with details.

I admit that I’ll probably never get into ACTUAL reading, because I still can’t stand to sit that long. However, (thanks to my new iPod) I’ll probably be able to eventually work my way into reading listening to “grown-up” novels. ;)

She’s SERIOUSLY confused!!!

Tatum: “Mom, can we buy an ice cream cone?”

Mom: “Not today. We don’t need more treats.”

Tatum: “Why not?”

Mom: “If we eat too many treats, it can make us unhealthy and give us a fat little tummy. :)”

Tatum: “But I WANT a fat tummy!”

Mom: “Why in the world would you want a fat tummy?”

Tatum: “Cuz then I can have a little baby for our family… since YOU won’t do it!”

ROFL!!! I think I’ll just let her go on thinking for a while, that babies come from too many ice cream cones. ;)

English as a first language?

Chandler: “Mom, what does halfazard mean?” (pronounced half-u-zard)P7250160

Mom: “I don’t know… Spell it.”

Chandler: “h-a-p-h-a-z-a-r-d—HAPHAZARD!

After regaining my composure and wiping the tears of laughter from my eyes, I explained that it’s pronounced hap-hazard. To which he replied, “That’s dumb! ‘ph’ says ‘ffffff’.”

What do I say??? He’s right!!!

That’s so halfazard of me. ;)

Don’t hate me because I’m beautiful!

Harley has a friend at church and when they get together, they get outrageously a little rowdy. So this week, I told Harley to sit by another friend so she wouldn’t be tempted to be naughty in Primary. She was very obedient. At dinner she told us all how she’d move and her friend would move to sit by her, so she’d move again. (Truth be told, I’m sure this was more distracting to the teacher than a little “chit chat” would’ve been.) The next thing out of her mouth was what really killed us…

“She just kept moving and moving to be by me. I was born with a pretty face… and that’s why she likes me!”

How does she come up with this stuff???

Full circle…

A few weeks back my dad had surgery in his mouth. During the surgery, the Dr. discovered that he also had a roaring sinus infection which was causing some major problems. They treated the infection aggressively, and dad thought he was on the road to recovery. Then, it came back! He’s in some pretty major pain, and there’s no way he can leave for their 18 month mission to the Congo in this condition.

That brings us to tonight… The extended Jameson family met at our house for our final Family Home Evening before my parents leave. We did the usual FHE stuff, and then at the end my dad asked Eric & Klint, my sister Corinne’s husband, to give him a blessing. As I listened to Eric give my dad a beautiful blessing, I thought about the many times that my dad gave me blessings when I was in his care. Now, here was my husband standing worthy to return the favor for me. We have now come full circle.

I am so grateful for the power of the priesthood. And, I am grateful for the opportunity my dad gave to Eric to be an example to our family, specifically Chandler, of someone who worthily holds the priesthood.

grammyandpapalaughing Please keep my parents in your prayers! They’re ready and willing to serve… They just need to stay healthy enough to do it! :)

The truth hurts!

Sometimes I’m tempted to only post about the happy, wonderful, fun times that our family has. However, our life is not all happy…all the time. So if you don’t want to hear the painful truth about our family… stop reading now! :)

Chandler and Harley are so different, yet so much alike. Consequently, they fight ALL THE TIME!!! They know how to push the other person’s buttons, and they push them REGULARLY. This week before school one morning we had a “straw that broke the camel’s back” moment, and I admit that I LOST IT!!! If you’ve ever heard Bill Cosby’s version of what a conniption is… it was a little something like that. I’ll spare you the gory details. :)

As we gathered ourselves and FINALLY got headed for school we all seemed to simmer down a little, but there was definitely some tension in the car. As we got out and walked to their classes, I forced Chandler and Harley to hug each other and apologize before heading to line up. This is when I realized just how miserable it was for everyone else…

As we headed to Shelby’s class to line up, I said goodbye and started to walk away when I realized that her head was down and her hair was covering her face. I stopped her and said, “Shelbs, what’s the matter?” That’s when the flood gates opened. She started to cry—REALLY hard, and with her head buried in my shoulder said, “I just hate leaving with mornings like this!” OUCH!!!

P3280335My heart sank, and I realized that it wasn’t just Chandler and Harley that were making things hard. My conniption sure didn’t make things better—AT ALL!!! I guess sometimes it just takes the sensitive spirit of an 8 year old to bring us back to the real world. I HATE leaving with mornings like that, too. And, I’m going to try really hard to make mornings better… for everyone! Thanks for reminding me, Shelbs! Love you!
