Our elementary school does a really neat Veteran’s Day celebration every year. They invite any of the kids who know Veterans, to invite them to come. Then, they honor all those who came or couldn’t come. this year, Chandler, Shelby, and Harley were able to participate.

Shelby was in the choir… (This was their 1st performance as a choir. She was SO excited! She has such an angelic voice. The choir practices 2 days a week, and are even going to sing at the state capital in December. She LOVES it!)

Chandler and Shelby also went to a special effort to make sure they honored our relatives who are Veterans…
Grandpa Stewart served in the Air National Guard. So they placed a star with his name on it on a big sign with all the Veteran’s names.
Then, they placed a flag in the Memorial Garden for my Uncle, Keith Strong, who died 4 days after his 26th birthday when his plane went down over the Pacific Ocean. He left behind a wife and 2 kids. He truly sacrificed everything in the service of his country. Chandler feels a strong connection to him. You never know who or what these little ones will connect with. He wrote a paper once that said he wanted to be a pilot when he grows up so he can go out over the ocean and find Uncle Keith’s plane. What a sweet boy!

Uncle Keith is such a Hero to these little boys! My boys think the world of him and also feel such a neat connection to him. Interesting. I think it is awesome. What a fun celebration!
It's so wonderful that your school is doing this to help this generation know the feelings of patriotism that come from something like this.
