Day 2

Ok, so I've been a little down and out for a few days, so I haven't been able to get back to blogging our California trip. So here I am to move on to Day 2.

Day 2 took some major work to get started. Disneyland opens at 8, and we wanted to be through the gates promptly at 8. That meant getting everyone up by 5am, to breakfast by 6, and to the shuttle by 7. This was the kids' response to our plan...

Needless to say, it was hard to do, but we actually made it! The shuttle left promptly at 7, and we were on it!!! Mission accomplished. Unfortunately that 7am shuttle also meant about 30 minutes of just waiting at the "UNhappiest Place on Earth", which we discovered is actually outside the gates of the "Happiest Place on Earth".
Finally, we were in! First stop...Cinderella's Castle. I think the girls were expecting it to be much more, and were a little disappointed when we just walked right through it and popped out the other side. Oh well, they were easily distrated by all the things they saw once they got there. In a matter of a few minutes we hit the merry-go-round.

(Mom was on the horse in front ,taking pics, and Grammy can't handle merry-go-rounds.) Next, we were off to the flying Dumbo ride. We all partnered up for this ride.

Papa & ChandlerAfter finding our dumbos, we realized that we had partnered Grammy with Harley. OH DANG!!! Harley's crazy, and Grammy gets motion sick. Not a good combo. Luckily, Grammy survived, and off we went to the next adventure.

We then headed over to what ended up being the longest line we stood in during our entire D-Land adventure. It was the line to meet the Disney Princesses. It was over an hour wait, and it was so worth it! As you can see from the looks on their faces.

We got to meet Belle, Princess Minnie, and Jasmine, who the girls quickly informed us was dressed very imodestly. However, they were still very anxious to meet her.Each of the Princesses really got down on their level and talked with each of them for quite a few minutes. They asked about their favorite disney stories, and what they were excited to see at D-Land. It was so cute!Chandler didn't think it was quite so cute, though. He spent the entire time hidden behind a tree.

After that we spent the rest of the day just trying to hit as many things as we could. The kids were really adventursome, and I was really proud of them for being willing to try rides even if they looked a little scary. Tatum even went on the Matterhorn.

We saw a few more disney characters along the way, and at one point Tater literally pushed her way to the front of the line to see Cinderella, who was about to leave. Shelby & Harley were excited to see Minnie every time they saw her, in every outfit she had. (Tater was asleep for this shot, and Chan didn't really care about Minnie.)

We convinced the kids that if they would just scream when the scary parts came during the rides, they would feel better. Harley could never manage to get the screams out when she was scared, so she did alot of screaming after the big turns and drops. The very best ride of the day was by far, SPLASH MOUNTAIN! We bought the picture to prove it. Every time I see Chandler's face I lose it laughing again. Eric's isn't bad either.

We finished off the day with the "Fantasmic" show (which was worth the price of the outrageous D-Land admission alone). And caught one last picture with Mickey on the way out of the park.

We learned alot during our first day at D-Land, and believe it or not, the following day was even better. Stay tuned for the next installment...
